In order to prevent
someone from setting up an account with an avatar name that is not
their own, we have several procedures to prevent that.
We do this just to make sure it is really you. |

sure it's you using your name!
Verification Process
Although it may seem nice and easy to have an automated and
instantaneous signup process, there is always the possibility someone
may want to use another avater name that is not their own (possibly
yours) to set up an account.
In order to prevent this we have a verification procedure.
You will receive some simple instructions upon application. Among other
things, one of the steps we take to verify it is really you is...
We will contact the IMVU user via IMVU message at the avatar name
provided at signup. No accounts will be set up using that avatar name
until we receive a reply that it was a genuine request.
All additional forwarding accounts must be verified the same way.
Please make sure your account settings are not set to "Friends Only",
at least during our signup process as that will prevent us from
contacting you on IMVU.
No account setup or payment information will be processed until we are
sure that the avatar name in the application is the avatar that desires
the account.
